Do you hate critics? I do!

Hi,

A while back I posted a comment on Richard Lees’ blog.  The post was entitled “Money Love Speed“.  The comment I made:

Hi Richard,

I’ve got to admit, I’ve been working on a few products - but I’m very particular about presentation so am probably spending more time than I should be on it.

Then a last minute idea came to me, and of course I’m working on implementing that into the product as well.

Speed of implementation, when it comes to my personal projects has always been slow. Hopefully I’ll get this done this week so that it can be pushed out.

Thanks for the great post! It is inspiring to read the quote!

Regards,

Mohamed

Was in response to the post and to an excellent quote:

In a recent study of salespeople earning over $250,000 a year the single clear determining factor of their success was SPEED OF IMPLEMENTATION. The faster you implement something, the faster you get valuable important feedback that you can work with.

You don’t have to get it right, you just need to get it going. You can then make necessary changes. If you wait until it is perfect you’ll leave a lot of money on the table you will never achieve your goals.

He then pointed me to another post: http://richardlee.com/?p=98.

Richard - if you’re reading this, the advice has been well taken!  I will release my first product next week, and my second shortly thereafter.

The story behind the post, and the links to Richards posts is this:

Get your first product out, fast.  It will provide the momentum to get subsequent products out.  You will learn along the way, which will make each launch easier than the last.

I’m a perfectionist, and sometimes go overboard when it comes to presentation and layout.  I need to learn to step back if I am to succeed.  If you’re like me, then you will need to do the same — unless you intend on working all hours of the day when the goal of running your own has been to minimize the amount you work.

Regards,

Mohamed
